Not Last Night

Not last night but the night before
Forty-four robbers came knocking at my door!

Call for the doctor, call for the nurse,
And call for the lady with the alligator purse!

In came the doctor, in came the nurse,   (variation:  add jumpers for the doctor, nurse and lady)
And in came the lady with the alligator purse.

Out went the doctor, out went the nurse,  (variation:  added jumpers exit )
And out went the lady with the alligator purse!




Spanish Dancer Jumprope Rhyme

Spanish dancer, turn around, 

  (jumper turns around )
Spanish dancer, touch the ground.   

  (jumper touches the ground)

Spanish dancer, do a high kick,           

  (jumper does a high kick)
Spanish dancer, get out of town quick! 

 (jumper exits and the next jumper begins )

Cinderella Jumprope Verse

dressed in yella,

Made a mistake

How many doctors will it take?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, .... jumper continues as high as possible until they miss 

School Jumprope Game

In the first round (Kindergarten) all the jumpers must run through without jumping.
In the second round (First Grade) all the jumpers jump in, jump one time, then jump out.
And so on through the 12th grade.

If jumpers miss or get caught in the rope entering or exiting they have to start back at kindergarten.





Down In The Valley

Down in the valley where the green grass grows
There sat (girl's name) sweet as a rose
She sang, she sang, she sang so sweet
Along came (boy's name) and kissed her cheek
How many kisses did he give her?
1,2,3,4,5... until the jumper misses.

(Act out the different things as you're jumping rope)

I'm a little Dutch girl dressed in blue,
Here are the things I like to do:

Salute to the captain    (salute)
Bow to the queen         (bow)
Turn my back on the submarine  (turn around and face the other direction)
I can do the tap dance (dance)
I can do the splits        (jump up high with legs apart)
I can do the hokey pokey  (turn yourself around)

I Like Coffee, I Like Tea

I like coffee,
I like tea,
I'd like ___________  (fill in blank with friends name)
to jump with me!
The friend that has been named jumps in with the first jumper.  Then the second jumper says the rhyme over again and invites a third jumper to jump.  Keep going until you are out of friends to invite or someone misses.  




Johnny gave me apples,
Johnny gave me pears.

Johnny gave me fifty cents
to kiss him on the stairs.

I gave him back his apples,
I gave him back his pears.

I gave him back his fifty cents
and kicked him down the stairs.





Blackbirds, blackbirds,
Sitting on a wire.

What do you do there?
May we inquire?
'We just sit to see the day,

By 1, 2, 3. . . . . (jumper counts as high as they can go without missing)





Calling In

Calling in, calling out,
_________ runs in when I run out!  (Jumper calls the name of another jumper and they run in )





I asked my mother for fifty cents
To see the elephant jump the fence.

He jumped so high he touched the sky,
And never came back till the 4th of July.

(The rope is raised a little each time for this skipping game and the jumper has to jump higher and higher)
